LIHEAP Application Period: November 4, 2024 – April 4, 2025
The Low-Income Home Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP) offers financial aid to eligible households in Fayette County and surrounding areas struggling with heating costs during the winter months. For the 2024-2025 season, the application window runs from November 4, 2024, to April 4, 2025. As a participating LIHEAP vendor, Courtesy Oil is ready to assist you in accessing these benefits.
Understanding LIHEAP Income Limits
Eligibility for LIHEAP depends on your household size and annual income. For the 2024-2025 season, the income thresholds are as follows:
Household Size-Maximum Annual Income:
1-$22,590
2-$30,660
3-$38,730
4-$46,800
5-$54,870
6-$62,940
7-$71,010
8-$79,080
For each additional person, add $8,070 to the maximum income limit.
LIHEAP Cash Benefits: What You Can Receive
LIHEAP provides cash grants to help offset heating bills. These one-time payments range from $200 to $1,000, based on factors like household size, income, and fuel type. The grant goes directly to your utility provider or fuel company, such as Courtesy Oil, and does not need to be repaid.
Crisis Benefits: Additional Support in Emergencies
If you face a heating emergency—such as broken heating equipment, lack of fuel, or utility service termination—you may qualify for LIHEAP crisis grants. These grants range from $25 to $1,000 per season, depending on the severity of the crisis. Households can apply for multiple crisis grants within the same season, up to the $1,000 maximum.
